Spatial Patterns define why Cadbury choose where they produce Cadbury Chocolate.
Tasmania is where Cadbury opened there first factory in Australia. This was due to the fact that there is a large source of fresh milk available. The second Factory was opened up in Melbourne which also has large source of fresh milk available. The map on the left shows where the most milk is produced in Australia. This map supports the positioning of the two Cadbury factories.
The map of the right, shows where the most Cocoa is grown. Even though Cadbury’s sources aren't from Cote D’ivore (which produces the most Cocoa per year), Cadbury sources Cocoa from other places which produce a lot of Cocoa. These places are Ghana, Indonesia and Malaysia.
This Map shows a major connection between the Cocoa producing countries and Australia. Australia's population is definitely not undernourished! The countries that supply Cadbury with Cocoa have 5 - 19% of their population undernourished. The interconnection here is the fact that Cadbury supports countries that are undernourished as well supplying their product to places that aren't undernourished. Places like Ghana, Indonesia and Malaysia are all places that depend on Cocoa production and big companies like Cadbury to buy from them. People in Australia then buy the finished product and then a percentage of the cost of the chocolate is given back to the Cocoa growing countries. This means that by Countries becoming obese are helping those that are undernourished. If this a good thing or a bad thing?
